It’s February 2024, and farmers are back again at the National Capital borders, hitting the streets and heroically fighting the barricades, tear gas shells and rubber bullets of the ruling regime to demand and claim what is rightfully theirs .
We are reproducing the following images from the booklet published by us in 2021 during the historic Kisan Andolan and put on display in the Shaheed Yaadgar Tent at the Tikri Border, New Delhi.
Many of these revolutionary movements opposed British imperialism and played a pivotal part in our freedom struggle. Even after we achieved independence from the British on August 15, 1947, our collective destiny still remained in the hands of the foreign and domestic capitalists. But as Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh presciently wrote, in his last petition before martyrdom, ‘Let us declare that the state of war does exist and shall exist so long as the Indian toiling masses and the natural resources are being exploited by a handful of parasites.’ The struggle for achieving independence, in its fullest sense, and creating an India of our own continues even after Independence.
