Fight back fascism in Delhi University!

COLLECTIVE condemns ABVP – Delhi Police nexus in attacking students speaking for political prisoners.

Displaying money – muscle power which is the hallmark of RSS footsoldiers ABVP, comrades in DU were attacked with stones and rods in a planned manner on the afternoon of Thursday, December 1. No FIR has been registered by Delhi Police against the identified ABVP attackers despite lodging medical reports and statements.

Around 4 pm, students campaigning for the release of Prof. G.N. Saibaba and other political prisoners were attacked near Maurice Nagar Police Station by ABVP members who came in white SUVs. When they went for treatment to Hindu Rao Hospital, they were threatened again. Shamefully, Delhi Police took no steps to stop this intimidation.

ABVP has repeatedly tried to divide the student movement using planned violence, with impunity from the law. We have not forgotten ABVP’s violence during a cultural festival in Ramjas College in February 2017, the masked attack on JNU students in January 2020 and repeated attacks on progressive student voices in DU earlier this year. We have seen how Delhi Police has repeatedly shielded the attackers belonging to the ruling RSS – BJP regime by recording these one-sided attack as “clashes” and harassing the victims.

COLLECTIVE stands firmly with the comrades who are standing strong against ABVP’s violence. They have been vocal against the false imprisonment of political prisoners such as our teachers, DU’s Prof. G.N. Saibaba and Prof. Hany Babu, and we will continue to demand their release.
